Stop Centering Everything: A Beginner's Guide to Dynamic Framing

Look through your camera roll right now. I guarantee that in 90% of your photos, the main subject is placed dead-center in the frame. It's human nature—we look directly at what interests us, so we point the center of the camera directly at it.

While center framing works for symmetry, it often results in static, boring images. It's time to break the habit.

Creating Visual Tension

When you move your subject off-center, you create visual tension. The viewer's eye has to travel across the image to find the subject, taking in the environment along the way. This tells a broader story.

The Assignment: Next time you photograph a person looking to the side, place them on the opposite side of the frame so they are looking *into* the empty space. This is called "lead room," and it instantly makes the photo feel more natural and dynamic.
